High-quality folding carton printing: Grafobal in Skalica, Slovakia

Challenge:

The demands of the branded goods industry for quality, finishing, delivery times and prices are rising in the high-quality folding carton printing market. Large, often multinational packaging manufacturers fight for market shares and for the corporate and technical edge over the competition that is key to winning over customers. Active in a raft of business fields, the Slovakian Grafobal Group with its headquarters in Skalica and further plants in Slovakia, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Lithuania and Russia is a big player in packaging printing in eastern Europe. The Group continually invests in cutting-edge technology to expand its market footing.

Solution:

The Grafobal Group now operates six Rapida presses. The most recent investment went to its headquarters in Skalica. It is a 28m-long high-tech Rapida 106 with 13 printing, coating and drying units (double coating kit) for conventional, UV and mixed operation. The press’ configuration, speed of up to 18,000sph and the level of automation with comprehensive inline quality control systems and job changing at the touch of a button is unique in Slovakia and rather remarkable overall. The goal of the investment is to be able to deliver high-quality finished packaging even more flexibly and faster with an excellent price-to-performance ratio.

The sixth Rapida to go to a company belonging to the Grafobal Group underscores KBA’s strong position in packaging printing.
