Koenig & Bauer was one of the winners of a German Brand Award 2018. This prestigious prize was awarded for the third time by the German Design Council and the German Brand Institute. It recognises innovative brands, consistent brand management and sustainable brand communication. The aim of the award is to discover and present new brand trends.
The press manufacturer with headquarters in Würzburg won the jury over with the Koenig & Bauer brand’s traditional-modern central theme – factual and modern in appearance, but also a reminder of the company’s two founding fathers, who laid the foundations of press engineering more than 200 years ago. “We are proud to have received this high distinction,” says Dagmar Ringel, director of corporate communications and marketing at Koenig & Bauer. “Our cutting-edge umbrella brand shows clearly what our company stands for – the union of tradition and innovation in press engineering.”
Initiator of the German Brand Award is the German Design Council which was founded in 1953 based on the initiative of the German Bundestag by the Federation of German Industries and some leading companies as a foundation to promote the competence of the German economy in design issues. Together with brand consultancy GMK Markenberatung this resulted in the German Brand Institute, which awards the coveted prize annually. The award recognises the commitment to the competitiveness of strong brands and is intended to raise awareness of brand management and brand communication as entrepreneurial success factors.
The German Brand Award honours the contributions of outstanding brand management and brand communication in the competition categories “Excellence in Branding”, “Industry Excellence in Branding” and “Excellence in Brand Strategy, Management and Creation”. All award winners were nominated in advance either by the German Brand Institute, its brand scouts or a panel of experts. The interdisciplinary jury is made up of representatives from the fields of business and science.
Koenig & Bauer received a so-called special mention in the category “Industry, Machines & Engineering” for its new brand relaunch implemented in autumn 2017 on the occasion of the traditional company’s 200th jubilee. The prizes were awarded at an official gala ceremony on 21 June 2018 in Berlin.
