Koenig & Bauer Invests in the Future and Welcomes 103 Apprentices and Dual Study Programme Students

The broad range of apprenticeships secures a new generation of skilled workers at the sites in Germany and Austria

  • Koenig & Bauer has welcomed a total of 103 new apprentices and dual study programme students to its sites in Germany and Austria
  • All available apprenticeships have been filled successfully
  • The apprenticeship portfolio has been expanded to include new professions, such as a manufacturing metrologist in Mödling, Austria
  • Attractive conditions for apprentices are an investment in the company's future

Koenig & Bauer is pleased to support 103 young talents as they begin their professional future. The new apprentices and dual study programme students are starting their careers at the Group's sites in Germany and Austria, choosing a career in printing press engineering.

“Training young talents is an important strategic pillar for our company's success. We are investing in the next generation of skilled workers and experts”, emphasises Dr Stephen Kimmich, CEO of Koenig & Bauer. “In a fast-changing industry, dedication and a spirit of innovation are essential to remain a technology leader. We are proud to support our apprentices on their journey and provide them with the best tools.”

Dr Christine Bötsch, Head of Global Human Resources at Koenig & Bauer, adds: “For us, the apprenticeship is a key component for fostering young talents. Our apprentices receive a solid training and valuable practical experience. At the same time, we are strengthening our teams with qualified young professionals, thereby securing our company's long-term innovative strength and viability.”

Of the more than one hundred young professionals, the majority, 45, started at the headquarters in Würzburg. The company's vocational school here is a valuable advantage for both the apprentices and the local teams. Manuel Eisenmann, Head of Technical Apprenticeships in Würzburg at Koenig & Bauer, explains: “Our in-house vocational school is at the heart of our dual apprenticeship and a decisive competitive advantage. Thanks to the close spatial and professional integration of theory and practice, we can optimally prepare our apprentices for the demands of our company. The lessons are tailored exactly to our products and technologies. This allows us to train future skilled workers with precision while also enabling a smooth transition into their professional lives. We have been following this path very successfully for over 150 years.”

In Radebeul, the apprenticeship year began on 11 August with 37 apprentices in seven different professions, as well as one dual study programme student who will start on 1 October. Two apprentices and two dual study programme students started their careers at Koenig & Bauer MetalPrint in Stuttgart, three at Koenig & Bauer Coding in Veitshöchheim, and 13 new apprentices were welcomed at the site of Koenig & Bauer (AT) in Mödling, Austria. For the first time, an apprentice is being trained in production measurement technology. Koenig & Bauer (AT) is one of only five companies in all of Austria that offers this newly established apprenticeship. Dr Stephen Kimmich explains: “The continuous specialisation of the apprenticeships offered also shows that Koenig & Bauer has expanded from a pure mechanical engineering company to a technology group. However, our core still clearly lies in high-quality mechanical engineering, both in training and in production and development.”

In addition to adapting its apprenticeships to current developments, Koenig & Bauer focuses on the high quality of the professional and personal development of its apprentices. The young professionals gain deep insights into the company's processes by working in various departments. The personal development of young people is also promoted through opportunities such as exchange trips, seminars, and stays abroad.
