Ready for the future!Case study: Print Shop 4.0
Digitalisation in commercial printing
In 2019, the existing technology and machinery base was upgraded by investing in two additional Rapida 106 perfector presses, significantly boosting the company’s sheetfed offset production capacities. An online shop and integration into other e-commerce systems soon attracted a stream of new customers and additional jobs. The result was a significant increase in production volumes and capacity utilisation. Lean processes were now imperative – for efficient order processing and maximised throughput while maintaining the same workforce as before.
In 2019, Silber Druck kicked off a company-wide digitalisation initiative. All process steps had to be digitalised end-to-end. The holistic and customised digitalisation solutions from the Koenig & Bauer Workflow Solutions portfolio allowed seamless integration of all processes along the entire value chain into the existing IT landscape in terms of consitent end-to-end digitalisation:
MIS software Optimus dash
Digital business processes from order receipt to product shipping
MES software LogoTronic
Digital control and optimisation of production machines and processes
APS software Job Optimiser
Digital production planning and control, and perfectly timed staging of all resources required for production
Silber Druck had the new MIS software Optimus dash up and running in just four months, using it for the processing of all production tasks from order receipt through to invoicing. Thanks to the end-to-end integration of data and processes with Koenig & Bauer Workflow Solutions, the company was able to double its order throughput in less than two years – and that without requiring additional personnel. Ultimate efficiency, sustainable production and reliably fast delivery times are the hallmarks of Silber Druck today.
