Sheetfed ServiceRecommended inks and coatings

Tested and recommended for KBA sheetfed offset presses

Suitable consumables are a decisive prerequisite for optimum use of your KBA sheetfed offset press. High-quality inks and coatings provide for brilliant print and finishing results.

The consumables which you require for different purposes must usually be obtained from a multitude of individual suppliers. To help you with your purchase decisions, we have tested the quality and performance of various products from renowned consumables suppliers in our customer demonstration centre.

The ideal products for use on your KBA Rapida press are identified by the KBA seal of quality “Recommended Product”.

  • Recommended products of our partners
  • Tested product quality
  • Products optimised for use on KBA sheetfed offset presses

Rapida users who follow the KBA recommendation and choose printing inks from the Flint Group benefit from tested ink systems which have been optimised specifically for the fast KBA Rapida presses.

Particular strengths of the recommended conventional inks are to be seen in the reduced ink consumption, high colour brilliance and contrast, smooth reproduction, convenient handling and the reliable printing of solids.

We recommend the following ink series for corresponding applications:

  • For straight printing: Novavit F700 on mineral oil basis or Novavit F950 on vegetable oil basis
  • For perfecting: F950
  • For general packaging printing: Novavit F1000 WIN Bio
  • Specifically for food packaging: Novasens P660 PREMIUM
  • Further products are available for a number of special applications such as printing on non-absorbent substrates or fast work-and-turn

Extensive technical and technological testing with UV-cured ink systems on all KBA sheetfed offset press series showed that Toyo UV inks are the ideal complement to our Rapida presses when it comes to UV printing. This assessment applies equally for the use of highly reactive HR-UV and LED-UV inks.

On this basis, KBA recommends use of the Toyo Flash Dry ink series, especially for the innovative LED-UV process. Toyo inks are in successful use on all UV presses in the customer and training centres at KBA-Sheetfed.

For outstanding finishing quality and high performance in the inline coating process, KBA recommends the use of high-quality coating systems from our strategic partner ACTEGA Coatings & Sealants, a division of the global speciality chemicals group ALTANA. The cooperation covers water-based, UV, HR‑UV and LED-UV coatings.

As a user, you benefit not least from pre-defined product standards. New products are already tested and optimised for use on KBA sheetfed offset presses.
