Transport and shelf packaging for food products

Challenge

It is just five years ago that BayPack entered the print business. The first press used was an old Varimat. Prior to this, the company had concentrated only on die-cutting and gluing. Growth was rapid and it soon became imperative to expand the available production capacities to keep pace with the increases in orders and sales.  The plan was to generate added value within the company as far as possible.

Solution

At the beginning of 2016, BayPack installed a six-colour Rapida 145 with inline coating in a configuration geared to industrial packaging printing on substrates between 350 and 1200 g/m2: The extensive automation, 840 mm raised foundations and integration into an automatic pile logistics system contribute to high performance, fast makeready and minimised waste. Inline colour measurement with QualiTronic ColorControl guarantees constantly high print quality.

Benefit

Together with further investments (hall extension, highly automated gluing machine for large-format packaging, fully automatic warehouse for finished and semi-finished products), the Rapida 145 has enabled the company to take another leap forward along the road of continued growth.

It was clear from the beginning that we would choose a Koenig & Bauer press. The Rapida incorporates everything we need.
