High-volume folding carton printing: Van Genechten Packaging in Chelmek, Poland

Challenge

In the field of high-volume packaging printing international brand manufacturers have noticed that along with price considerations, quality, short lead times and environmental friendliness, unusual finishing variations with coating or non-absorbent substrates, such as film, are becoming increasingly popular. Printing presses equipped with kit for inline finishing are gaining in importance in the premium packaging segment in particular. This is also the case at Van Genechten Packaging’s Polish plant in Chelmek.

Solution

Hot on the heels of two large-format Rapida 142 and Rapida 145 sheetfed offset presses for cardboard printing, in summer 2015 Van Genechten Packaging fired up an extensively automated and equipped seven-colour, medium-format Rapida 106 with twin coaters. When it came to configuring the press a particular focus was on options for jobs which were not able to be produced with the plant’s previous technology in the past.
